Wedding Cake – Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do you deliver and set up our wedding cake?

Yes, we do! We liaise with your venue directly and arrange a time to deliver and set up the cake in its final position (where possible) on the day of your wedding. We highly recommend that we do this as opposed to trying to set it up yourselves as we are used to driving cakes, carrying them, and putting them together. It’s also one more thing we can do for you to take some of the worry and stress out of your big day.

Should you prefer to collect your cake, then this is possible, and we will prepare and pack your cake ready for you with instructions, but we strongly recommend that where possible we do all this for you.

  1. Where do you deliver to?

We will deliver your cake to any venue in Kent and South East of England except for central London. Delivery within 10 miles of our studio is included in the price of your cake, beyond there, there is a charge per mile for a round trip. Feel free to get in touch and we can easily work this out for you.

  1. What size should my cake be?

There is no formula that says what size cake you need. I always tell my couples: –

  • You can choose to have a cake big enough to feed all your guests.
  • You can have a cake to feed your guests and more.
  • You can choose a smaller cake that doesn’t feed all your guests.
  • Choose a cake that fits your budget.
  • Choose a size cake works for your chosen design.
  • Are you having a fruit tier (you get more portions from a fruit cake)?
  • Are you planning to cut all the cake at the wedding, or do you plan to keep some?

So, I say have a cake the size that suits you and your budget and don’t feel you need to feed all your guests unless you particularly want to. I will let you know at the time of booking how many guests your chosen cake size will feed. What size wedding cake do we need for our wedding? (

  1. Can I have different flavours for each tier?

Yes, you can have every tier a different flavour. I would suggest that for the larger tiers of your cake you have more usual flavours and use the smaller tiers for more unusual or niche flavours.

  1. Do you provide cake stands and a cake knife?

Yes, we have a selection of cake stands available to use on your wedding day on a first come first served basis. We don’t charge for the use of our cake stands but we do ask for a deposit and ask for the stand to be returned to us within a few days of the wedding in order for the deposit to be returned. We also have a silver cake knife you can borrow too. Wedding Cake Stands – Iced Cake Images (

  1. Can I provide my own cake topper?

Yes of course. Where possible we like to have any cake topper delivered to us prior to the wedding so we can check size and work out how we will attach it to the cake. If this is not possible then we would like a photo of it and can collect it at the venue. We will also advise you of the top tier dimensions to help you with the sizing of your topper.
